Greg grew up in Southern California with his nine brothers and sisters. He knew from a young age that he wanted to perform, inspired by his thespian grandparents and TV director father to get into the entertainment business. At the age of thirteen he made his first professional debut in the Off-Broadway production of The Rothschild's, in which he starred as Young Solomon. He recorded and self-produced his first single at the age of sixteen. Cipes was formerly part of a rock-reggae band "Cipes and The People," and is now part of a new band, "Super Space Fighters." In late 2013 the band had a comic and movie released, as well as their first album.
At the age of seventeen, Cipes became nationally ranked as a junior professional surfer, and has been featured in several surfing magazines and dozens of advertising campaigns.
