He appears among a group of fantasy creatures that face off against the Pines family and Grenda in "Dungeons, Dungeons, and More Dungeons." Mabel and Grenda think he's attractive, making the game look "promising." He appears on the cover of the board game riding a unicorn.
When angered by Ford, Stan throws a bag of Ford's items, unintentionally rolling the infinity sided die which Ford had. When the die lands, the Hot Elf, an ogre, Probabilitor the Annoying and a griffin are all summoned. Probabilitor, impressed with the intelligence of Ford and Dipper, kidnaps them, flying off on the griffin.
The Hot Elf remains with Probabilitor and their new captives. Ready to cook them, he draws a flaming arrow and shoots it at a pile of wood under a cauldron. When Mabel, Grenda and Stan arrive to stop them, Probabilitor challenges them to a game of Dungeons, Dungeons, and More Dungeons. Hot Elf is the referee for the game. Probabilitor loses, and the Hot Elf announces the end of the game. He, Probabilitor, and the others summoned from the game are then sent back to their own dimension.
The Hot Elf's appearance is slightly based off the character Legolas from the series The Lord of the Rings. Like Legolas, he is pale with long, pale blond hair, light blue eyes, and pointed ears. He is dressed in a long sleeved green tunic, and darker green leggings. As well as black cloak. He also wields a bow and arrow, Legolas' weapon of choice.
